Fun, new addition to West Boise! Food: 4/5. We shared finger steaks, brussel sprouts, pretzels with beer cheese, and cheesy tater kegs. Everything was good. The only thing that really blew me away were the tater kegs. Now THOSE were amazing! (I was too excited to try them I forgot to take picture). They are larger than expected but only four of them. My husband and I have agreed that as far as Sockeye beer goes, there are a couple we like, but nothing we really love. Service: 5/5. We had a great waiter that was very attentive and so great with our kids. Our food came out quicker than expected for how busy it was. Atmosphere: 4/5. The building is kind of tucked back behind other businesses and can be hard to find. There is part of a train outside which is a fun touch! The inside is beautifully decorated. It's a fun vibe! Kid friendly: 4/5. A good spot for kids. They had enough high chairs for our two as well as several other children. The food is kid friendly and the noise level is great for little ones to not be a distraction.

This was the first time we had been to sockeye! Very cute place with tons of room! They even have an old food train car in the front! We sat at the bar and were served really fast. Happy hour is 3-6 every day and all day Sunday. They have bogo beers and house wines and a list of 5$ snacks. We got the birria taquitos, the pretzel, and jalapeno artichoke dip. The dip was my favorite by far! The pretzel and queso were basic but good! The taquitos were good, but you get 2 for 5$ and I feel like that was a bit over priced for what you get. I will definitely go back and try the other happy hour items and the salmon cakes!

Stopped in for lunch while visiting friends for the night on a road trip. The beer options were good. Our server was friendly and it didn't take long for our food to come out. My friend and I split the grilled cheese and dip sandwiches and both were super delicious. We'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Steve and I delved into Sockeye Brewing once again. This time we had the Porter and we liked it fairly well. Are there better versions of this beer type out there? Sure, but the Powerhouse Porter is still a very solid beer as is most of Sockeye's beer selection. Flavors that are fun to find with this porter are coffee and sweetness. The beer is light bodied yet is smooth and creamy to enjoy. So it isn't too rich like some porters which was okay by us.

Recently went here with some friends of mine for lunch. Didn't even know it existed...well, at least in this spot. I have always heard of it. I used to teach a fitness class called Pound. I still take part in it, just haven't found a venue to teach it in .. regularly. Anyway, my point is lol... maybe 2 years ago someone had mentioned "let's see if Sockeye will let us have a pound a pour at their place!" That's how I knew the place existed, just didn't know this is where it was at. I love the little shopping area it's located in. Next to the village, but thankfully not the village. This place is super homey and doesn't feel as commercialized as the village does. Sockeyes location has east coast vibes to it. Very cool setting/location. The restaurant is huge. Very spread out. You never feel like you're on top of yourself while here. Tables have enough space between you and the people around you. It's so nice. The waitress was awesome. She totallyyyy sounded like Kathleen Turner when she spoke. We were all loving that haha. She was super sweet, efficient af, checked on us regularly and was always nice about it. Never acted put out. She'd s a keeper imo. Y'all done good hiring her. I only ordered their large soft pretzel bc I eat like a 12 year old boy lol. I seriously have horrible eating habits. Hmm, I take that back! I have very picky eating habits. I usually eat very well. This pretzel was a cheat snack haha. It was SO GOOD! I honestly can't remember the last time I had a giant soft pretzel. Glad I did. My friends have eaten there before and they spoke highly of it before we went. So they had no complaints this time either. Prices are super reasonable which in today's world is shocking seeing as I've heard a Big Mac is like $12 or $13?? No idea if that's true. I can honestly say I've never had a Big Mac lol. That's where the picky eater comes back into play lol. I just hear people complain and see endless facebook and twitter posts about it. It's always better to go to a regular restaurant especially if those places are either cheaper or just slightly more expensive...because you get great service from someone like Kathleen Turner AND you get to sit down in a pretty kick ass restaurant. Glad my first experience here was a super positive one. I'll definitely be back. Thanks for reading, Yelpersockeyes!! Cheers!! That train cart out back is so bad ass. Not sure if that's a part of the restaurant, but that would be so awesome to have a table in there! And that's the 12 year old boy coming back and my love for trains I had back then haha.
